Hey everyone! So school has already started here in baghdad and i’ve been quite busy with that but I still wanted to share something with you. After my campaign I volunteered for another campaign that was similar to mine (providing school supplies) but this time for orphans. It was a really fun experience and i got a chance to meet with a lot of great inspiring kids 💜

Heyy everyone! how was your week? for me it was crazy i had to do a couple of things that got me busy which lead me to being late in module 4 but don't worry i got it under control now. I wanted to talk to you a little about DYLEP so far,It's amazing i can't even describe it i feel like every module i get better amd better and i always challenge myself which is awesome. also it will end soon and that makes me think that time flies really fast! I will miss everything about it and i'm pretty sure i will feel the gap!
Hey everyone!! I'm in Sulaymaniyah right now it's in the north of Iraq and it's like my second home, I always come here to chill especially when it's too hot to handle in Baghdad and the most unique place for me would be the view from my balcony as you can see in the pictures. It shows Azmer mountain and the really cool thing about it is that in winter, auntumn or spring you can hear the wind sound from the inside and it sometimes feels like it's gonna break the windows also in winter this whole area becomes covered with sbow which is wonderful. Right now they are building houses and apartments on it,it's a great investment! The picture below is from the third vhf chat it was so interesting and inspiring we talked about how would we feel if we visited each others houses and we talked about power and what does it mean to us we also talked about how much we have changed as a family and how we were so awkward in the beginning and now we are more comfortable!
PS: When we were taking the picture the electricity went off at my house it was so funny ..... Hey everyone! So the person that i interviewed is a member/volunteer in We De Help organization her name is Meead , she is 21 years old and she is a pharmacist. Before i start the interview i wanted to say that it was an honor for me to hear from an expert's point of view, and i really enjoyed translating everything about this interview i may have asked some irrelevant questions but that's because i was so curious to learn more about her job and her life also it's a really long article but it's really helpful and interesting 💜.
So at first i asked her why did she choose to be a pharmacist? she said that she chose it because you know that feeling when you see that you are only productive in a certain field and that you will not be that helpful in anything other than it that's how she knew it was the right choice also she said that her parents wanted her to be a surgeon but as days passed she expanded her perspective and idea of this field and she saw that she won't be helpful in anything except being a pharmacist. Then i asked her about the organization that she is working with? she said that three years ago she joined "We Do Help organization" in general it consists of a group of pharmacy and medical students, because the president of the organization is a professor in the college of pharmacy. At the beginning it started with a bunch of students who gathered together with their professor to help IDPs after that they decided to expand and it became a well-known registered organization then a lot of students started to join the group from different universities based on their knowledge in this field and it started to get bigger and bigger. She said that the beautiful thing about this organization is that it's independent and not affiliated to any authority it gets the whole support from the people (residents). I also asked her about the goal of the organization? she said that one of the goals of this organization is to reduce the damages in our community she said that in every field we have a certain leak or a problem whether it's in education especially for IDPS or other fields let's just say that we are trying to reduce the gaps in our community. The other question was; why did she choose to be a volunteer? she said that she has always wanted to try voluntary work, she said that in Iraq parents won't easily let there sons and daughters go outside by themselves especially girls because of the dangerous circumstances in Iraq, but what got her to break those barriers is to let her parents see that many people will get benefits from her experience in voluntary work , she will leave a stamp in their lives. She will use the desire that she has to improve her country. Her father after seeing her in an interview with a local TV channel from one of the IDPs camps talking about her experience was very proud of her and started encouraging her.the The next question that i asked her was why did she choose We Do Help organization in particular? she said that there are a lot of organizations in Iraq that do a great job but We Do Help has a special thing because as she said before she really liked that it's an independent organization and that all the members work in the same field and are familiar with each other. She said that it's really important for anyone to be in the right place so that they can work better. I also asked her a really interesting question what is the first voluntary work that she has done? she said that when she was in 6th grade she and her friends gathered up and cleaned the school's huge yard three times a week she said that she really loved it and felt really happy to see the yard so clean. I also asked her about what does civic engagement means to her? she said it means a lot to help people especially when you see that this help changes the reality of many IDPs. She felt really satisfied to see that her job is being appreciated by everyone and she said a really important thing that in her opinion when you help someone in need, they will be the one that will make you happy they will get ridden of the negative energy inside you not the opposite. Then i asked her about good citizenship and if she can tell me one time she felt that she was a good citizen? she answered me that to be a good citizen you should start first with fixing yourself because no one can help others if he hasn't fixed himself first and also by being positive to others she told me that the feeling of being a good citizen can never be completable because once you see the shortage that is happening in your community you will feel like your are a part or the reason of it but one time she helped an IDPs families that were staying in a school they were miserable. They provided them with satisfactory support she said that when they were leaving she saw the happiness in their eyes at that moment she felt that she did a huge change. The last question was what does she want other people to know about our community? she said that simply we are a country that loves life and the proof of that; is that we are trying to adopt and improve our lives. If you look on the outside you will never know how it's from the inside we are facing a lot of issues we have a bad economical situation but with all of that we are still fighting Isis. We don't really deserve anyone to judge us from the media but we want from everyone to know more about our country from the Iraqi residents or through researches and we will be really grateful. Finally she talked about her future campaigns through her organization and it contains more help for orphans and IDPs. Hey everyone! How was your week?! for me it was amazing we did a lot of cool stuff we played with each other we learned a lot of things about refugees and in this module we have to interview a volunteer and i will definitely share with you the whole interview so stay tuned!
MY favorite moment in DYLEP so far would be the second vhf chat i had a lot of fun discussing about stereotypes and our ptojects it was so interesting! PS: a vhf is a short for virtual host family chat it consist of 4 to 5 members from Iraq and the US where through it we get to engage with each other and learn about each others cultures. |
